Acute Hepatic Porphyria (AHP) is a rare disease marked by dibiliating abdominal pain and a host of other unrelated symptoms. Many patients spend 15 years of misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis and unnecessary surgeries and treatments before they find answers. The stories are gut wrenching both literally and figuratively. It’s a challenge to get through to doctors about a disease they rarely see among their patients. However, this campaign caught their eye and got them to stop focusing on the complexity and rarity of the disease and start scanning their patient pool for signs and symptoms.
